All through School

From Nursery to Sixth Form
At Claremont, we give our pupils opportunities to shine by placing them at the centre of their own learning. Our aim is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to fulfil his or her own ambitions, be themselves and be well equipped for the future. That journey starts in our Nursery and Pre-prep School, then continues in Prep School and ends in our Senior School and Sixth Form.

Early Years in Nursery

We provide high-quality care and education for children between the ages of one and five years. This is achieved in a happy and stimulating environment, where young children can play and learn together as they develop their own character and start to make sense of the world around them. We broaden the Foundation stage curriculum through organised sessions with specialist teachers for PE, Music, Yoga, French, Forest School and Gardening. The Nursery school caters for children on a full-time and part-time basis and is open for fifty weeks a year.

The Pre-Prep (Reception to Year 2)

In Pre-Prep, an engaging curriculum stimulates curiosity, creativity and experimentation. Small classes ensure that children have an individual learning programme that suits their needs and motivations to learn. Our aim is to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of the core subjects of Mathematics and English, providing a solid foundation for the Prep School years, whilst adding Music, Forest School, Art, Geography, Drama and Sport as timetabled lessons.

Prep School (Year 3 - 8)

The Prep School curriculum is tailored to the individual needs of each student, with adapted and enhanced programmes of study that ensure every child is motivated, inspired and challenged. The syllabus includes a STEM curriculum, Forest School up to Year 6 and many individual subjects taught by specialist teachers such as French, Spanish and Drama. Good manners and kindness are fundamental qualities in our children, who leave us with a strong sense of responsibility to themselves and a range of skills that will ensure they will flourish at the Senior school. We are particularly proud of our Green Flag and BBC Reporter School status.

Senior School and Sixth Form (Year 9 - 13)

At the Senior School, the academic programme is built around the five teaching faculties: Enterprise, Science & Technology, Humanities, Creative Arts and Communication. We empower our students to play a leading role in designing their own learning experience and we encourage free-thinking and the development of skills that inspire Leadership, Creativity, Team Spirit, Community-mindedness and academic excellence.

As well as A levels, we offer Level 3 BTEC qualifications in some subjects as well as Level 3 opportunities in Sports Leaders Award, Arts Awards and LAMDA qualifications to Gold Standard (university level). Extensive Co Curricular and enrichment programmes reflect the fact that that the greatest learning experiences can come outside the classroom. Boarding School Life

Our boarding school provides a wonderful opportunity for students to combine their studies with making friends from all around the world. Both of our welcoming boarding houses are located off campus, as we believe it is vital for the students to have a break from school – close enough to get to school in under 15 minutes, but far away enough for it to feel like you’re really going “home” at the end of the day.

Our Girls and Junior Boarding House is located in the heart of the historic village of Battle, just five minutes walk from the mainline station into London. Our Boys Boarding House is a five minute drive from the Prep School and three miles from the seaside.

Life after Claremont

As a proudly non-selective school, the diverse nature of our student body is reflected in the broad range of destinations that our students go on to.

When students leave Claremont, they take with them a portfolio of evidence which not only charts their academic attainment but also shows the skills they have developed, experiences they have had and their all-round capabilities as a student, employee and citizen.

Being able to prepare young people for Maths degrees at Harvard as effectively as for Fashion courses in London is something that all our staff are deeply proud of.”

Unique International Learning Opportunities

Being part of International Schools Partnership has enabled us to offer students an evolving programme of unique international learning experiences often reserved for the traditional 'gap year'. We believe this offering really does set us apart from many other independent ‘through schools’ in the UK.
